NET NEWS
We counted 17 WinLink check-ins and 23 voice check-ins for the Pamlico
Emergency/Communications Net last Wednesday, January 7th. There were
four check-ins via Echolink, Paul KM4PA from Brevard, Bill K2TNO from
Greensboro, Pete AG7C Washington PA, and Bill K2ONN Bermuda Run. The net
went smoothly. Wayne KO4OJC ran the net remotely from South Carolina.

Monday night C4FM Net: On the 5th, eight folks participated in the
weekly roundtable hosted by KO4OJC: WM3X, KR4LO, K1AUG, AI4WL, KR4ABZ,
K4ONC and KR4CYB.  For local users via RF it’s on 146.310MHz and remote
users via Wires-X room “KO4OJC-Room 3” (ID 64163).

SOLAR NUMBERS TODAY
NOAA reports that solar activity was low during the 24 hour period
ending yesterday at 4 p.m. local. The Space Weather Prediction Center
expects solar activity to be low with a slight 15% chance for M-class
flares today, Tuesday and Wednesday.

There are 5 numbered sunspot regions on the Sun facing Earth this
morning. There were 7 last Monday, 10 the Monday before.

Sunday’s noon Solar Flux Index (SFI) observation at Penticton was 111,
last Sunday’s was 157. The index is predicted to measure 110 today, 110
Tuesday and 112 on Wednesday. The more important SFI 90 day trailing
average was 147 yesterday. It was 147 last Sunday.

The geomagnetic field was reached major storm levels yesterday. The SWPC
expects the field reach major storm levels today; be unsettled to active
on Tuesday and quiet to active Wednesday.  The planetary K-index at 7
a.m. this morning was 2.67 indicating quiet conditions.

Current conditions:  Fair during the day on 80 and 40 Meters, good at
night; good day and night on 30 & 20; fair day and night 17 & 15; poor
day, poor at night on 12 and 10. As always, we recommend you go to

–CAMBODIA, XU.  Tom, DL7BO, is QRV as XU7O until January 18. Activity
is on 40 through 6 meters using FT8..
–SOUTH SHETLAND ISLANDS, LZ0.  Ivo, LZ1AAW, plans to be QRV as LZ0A
from station St. Kliment Ohridski on Livingston Island, IOTA AN-010,
until mid-February 2026. Activity will be in his spare time.
–PALAU, T8. Hiro, JA6KYU, Mike, JA6EGL, and Koji, JH6OPP, will be QRV
as T88HS, T88SM, and T88XE from Koror Island, IOTA OC-009, until January
15. Activity is on 160 through 6 meters using CW, SSB, AM, FM, and
various digital modes.
