PAMLICO EMERGENCY NET (ARES) PRACTICE
The Pamlico Emergency Net meets Wednesday nights at 7:30 pm local time on
the Oriental repeater (147.210 MHz, CTCSS/PL tone 151.4, standard
offset).  There are alternate frequencies.  If you have not already done
so, please PROGRAM YOUR RADIO to use the Oriental 440 repeater on the
frequency of 444.350 MHz, standard offset, PL tone 85.4. Net members should
also make sure that they have the backup simplex frequency of 146.55 MHz in
their radio’s memory.  The simplex frequency would be used in an emergency
situation if the repeaters fail.  Our net controller and County ARES
coordinator Mike Hurm, K4HPS, will be listening for you.

NORTH CAROLINA QSO PARTY IN TWO WEEKS
Standby: the annual North Carolina state QSO Party will be Sunday, Mar 1,

possible. We exchange our call sign and county (PAM or PAMLICO) for the call
sign and NC county or State or Country of the other station. Signal report
is optional. Digital modes have been added to phone and CW and there are new
categories for portables and rovers. For all the county abbreviations and
more go to: http://www.rars.org/ncqsoparty/  The QSO Party comes the day
after our February PARS meeting. If you play, be ready: Pamlico County
contacts are in demand!

QSO CORNER
This is the place to post contacts with DXpeditions, Special Event
Stations, or special QSO’s you would like to share.

OK, as best I can tell, here’s the list of those PARS folks who worked K1N
during the current DXpedition. Almost everyone made the trip more than once.
As of Friday afternoon, K4JJW filled 19 band slots, N4LV 16.  WM3X was
successful QRP on 20 Meters but had to use more juice on 30.  And N4ENE came
back after 22 years to do it again several times. Others who showed up in
the Club Log log for Navassa Island include KD2T, K4LTE, K4HPS, K4WRD,
K2ONN, W4XMT, KI4NSP, and yours truly, AI4WL.  That’s 12 PARS members and
there may be others.  Not too shabby.  Congratulations all!
