Subject: stolen equipment

Good Morning Pete,

I had some ham equipment stolen from my house on Atlantic Beach last weekend.  If you don’t mind passing it on to your members, I would appreciate them being on the lookout and let the AB police know if they see items that would appear to be from this list.

1 Yasue HF-VHF FT-857D radio, Serial number 5F970403

1 MFJ-937Y antenna tuner

1 Buddi Pole portable antenna in carrying bag

1 Antenna analyzer, IP-302 from Buddi Pole

1 MFJ-4215P power supply

1 Pellican carrying case for the radio, tuner, cables and analyzer

1 small Pellican carrying case for the power supply

This probably will turn up at a flee market somewhere.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give.

SOLAR NUMBERS TODAY
NOAA reported solar activity was very low during the 24 hours ending yesterday at 5 pm local. The most recent significant activity was a B1 flare at 0359Z this morning. There is one sunspot region on the disk facing Earth this morning. It is quiet and stable offering  no threat of significant activity. The sunspot number (SSN) is 14, down from the 40 we reported Wednesday a week ago. The Solar Flux Index (SFI) is 77, down from the 98 recorded at Penticton in our last report. According to the Space Weather Prediction Center, solar activity is expected to be very low for the next three days with a slight chance for C-class flares today through Wednesday. The NOAA forecast has the SFI at 76 Monday and dropping to 73 on Wednesday.  The 90 day trailing average is 86.

The Earth’s geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled Sunday.  The field is forecast to reach major storm levels at times through Wednesday due to high speed solar winds spewing from a large coronal hole.  The Kp-index was reported to be an quiet 2 at 8 a.m. local this morning.

Expect fair conditions on 30 and 20 Meters,  poor on the higher bands. Poor day and fair nighttime conditions are expected on 80 and 40. The VHF bands have been mostly quiet with some Sporadic E, meteor shower, and tropospheric scatter activity. Expect only short distance tropo contacts if you check into the new/old Thursday night 6M net.

Larry Wall, KK4SEO, our PARS Web Master in absentia, passed along an interesting pointer about solar storms– He wrote,
“Don’t know if you’re already aware of this project mapping of most-vulnerable areas to solar storms.  It’s a London Daily Mail [article] that sources a sciencealert.com article.”
