PARS SPRING FOX HUNT ONLY 12 DAYS AWAY
Our Spring FOX HUNT and HOUNDS’ SOCIAL AND PICNIC is on track for
Saturday, April 20th. It will start at the Oriental Fire Station on
Straight Road. Check-in for the hunters starts at 9 am, the hunt will
mount up and head out by groups around 9:30. Should be a fun course for
all. Hamburgers and edible non-hunting dogs will be ready around noon.
THIS IS A FREE CLUB SOCIAL EVENT, members do not have to search for the
fox to enjoy the picnic. ALL ARE INVITED so Mike Marsh needs to know

ON HER SECOND LAP
The little-balloon-that-could has made it around the world. On Thursday,
she waved at Greenville, her starting point, as she ran the NC/VA state
line then headed northeast. By Sunday morning she was nearing Ireland.
Reportedly, the winds will push her on to Scandinavia, Northern Russia,
then toward Kazakhstan. By then she will have surpassed NC4ES-4’s 2021
record of 1 1/2 times around. Wow! At that distance her little 20 mW
tracker signal (call sign NC4ES-6) will be a tough copy here. You can

Update-As I put this in the mail Monday morning, NC4ES-6 is on track
halfway between Scotland and Norway just below the Shetland Islands
moving slowly east toward Bergen.
SOLAR NUMBERS TODAY
NOAA reports that solar activity was low during the 24 hour period
ending yesterday at 5 p.m. local. The Space Weather Prediction Center
expects solar activity to be very low today through Wednesday with only
a slight chance of a M-class flare Tuesday and Wednesday. There are 6
numbered sunspot regions on the Sun facing Earth this morning. There
were 4 last Monday, 7 the Monday before.
Sunday’s noon Solar Flux Index (SFI) observation at Penticton was 125,
last Sunday’s was 134. The index is predicted to measure 125 today, 128
Tuesday and 125 on Wednesday. The SFI 90 day trailing average was 162
yesterday. It was 164 last Sunday.
The geomagnetic field was quiet yesterday. The SWPC expects the field to
be quiet today, quiet to active Tuesday and Wednesday. The planetary
K-index at 5 a.m. this morning was 3.00 indicating quiet conditions. No
storms are expected.
For today, propagation is expected to be much the same: poor day, fair
night on 80 and 40; good on 30 to 15, and fair day, poor night on 12 and
10M.

Activity is on 40 to 10 meters using CW and FT8 with two stations.
