PAMLICO COMMUNICATIONS NET (WEDNESDAY NIGHT NET)
The Pamlico Communications Net this Wednesday 09/09/2026: For Winlink
operators use the “Winlink Check-In” form and would prefer that you send
the form using VARA HF mode as though you had no internet connection.
However, if “Telnet” is your only choice, it is acceptable. Please send
your Winlink check-ins prior to 1800 hours on Wednesday. Also use local
time and not UTC.

This Wednesday, the Net Control Station will be operating from Pamlico
Community College. After the regular Net check-in, the training will
involve a Simplex exercise on 146.550MHz. At that time, the NCS will do
a roll call check to ascertain who can hear the station. It is requested
that you not only listen for the NCS but make note of the other stations
that you can hear, as they check-in. At the end of the exercise please
send me a list, via email, of what stations you are able to hear.

If you have not already done so, please add the following simplex
frequencies to your radio:
147.210; 146.550; 146.5200 and 444.350. There is no offset frequency,
offset direction or tone needed.
Also, if you have not already done so, you should add the Grantsboro
repeater to your radio list. The frequency is 145.2300, negative (-)
offset of 600, and CTCSS tone of 85.4Hz. The positive offset (+) listed
on the current PACE plan is INCORRECT and will be corrected.

Stay Safe and will be listening for you Wednesday night at 1930Hrs.

NET NEWS
Six folks participated in the Monday night Wayne’s World C4FM
round-table on August 31st. Besides Wayne KO4OJC, they included KR4LO,
KR4ABZ, AC2GR, AI4WL, and KR4COD. Bill and Wayne made plans for
optimizing coverage of the GMRS antenna at Baird Creek (Bill’s
repeater). Ralph asked for advice for a new C4FM radio. The FT-310 was
suggested. It’s now on sale. Several recommended a used FT-991A, “DC to
daylight” transceiver. For local users via RF, the repeater’s on
145.390MHz. Remote users can join via the Wires-X room, it’s still
“KO4OJC-Room 3” (ID 64163).

On Wednesday, Sep 2, we recorded 15 WinLink and 20 voice check-ins to
the Pamlico Communications Net. Mike K4NLC was the net controller. Bill
K2ONN and Bill K2TNO checked in via EchoLink.  We all talked about what
was happening in our radio world… antennas, mesh core, Bill’s GMRS
antenna coverage, the just ended but not helpful DOT meeting on the
ferry tolls and lots more, radio or not. Bruce K4ONC has the net for the
rest of September.

Ant N1IG, Bruce K4ONC and Jim AI4WL joined Charlie WA4GSI on Thursday,
Sep 3rd for the DOWNEAST/PAMLICO COUNTY 6M Net. Ant and Jim exchanged DX
reports, mostly for 30M. Ant had that day worked Franz Josef Land…
Bruce had the area with the Brightspeed-cut water main cleaned up, just
as another break, this one affecting the Namon Rd. area, was reported.
Brightspeed again?
