ECHOLINK MOVED TO KERSHAW ORIENTAL REPEATER
Extracted from Wayne’s KO4OJC 10Oct26 email to EchoLink users:
“…We have finely moved our EchoLink connection to the tower site after
months of talking about it. The N4ONC-R EchoLink connection is alive and
doing well…  hopefully the connections will be clearer and less time
between keyups.  Everyone on our end will [now] hear a slight courtesy
tone when your connection drops. It’s still a work in progress but fully
100% functional at this time… The Internet connection has also
switched to Starlink at the tower site.  We will be watching [the new
set-up] closely for the next few months…”. Wayne Beasley KO4OJC

Eight folks folks made it to the Wayne’s World C4FM round-table on Oct
5th. Besides Wayne KO4OJC, they included KR4LO, AC2GR, AI4WL, KR4ABZ,
and KM4COD. KM4PA joined us via Wires-X from Brevard. We talked a lot
about coax connectors, water intrusion and connection protection. It
closed around 8:26pm. For local users via RF, the repeater’s on
145.390MHz. Remote users can join via the Wires-X room, it’s
“KO4OJC-Room 3” (ID 64163).

On Wednesday, Bill KR4LO, recorded 17 WinLink PAMLICO COMMUNICATIONS NET
check-ins. Twenty-two operators checked to the voice net, three of them
via EchoLink. After the formalities, Bill polled the members as to
whether they preferred to build their own antennas or purchase them.
Most indicated they would rather build their own but would buy if
necessary, either due to urgency or complexity. Looking ahead, don’t be
surprised to get the call to switch to a SSB frequency on ten meters
after check-in, just sayin’.

Wayne KO4OJC, Mark K1AUG and Jim AI4WL joined Charlie WA4GSI on
Thursday, for a short DOWNEAST/PAMLICO COUNTY 6M Net. Wayne reported
he’s ready to move the EchoLink service to Kershaw. [It was done on
Friday-ed] Rumor has it that a MeshCore Repeater may also be hung off
the Kershaw tower. It’s small, self-contained with a solar panel, about
the size of a tablet computer.
