SOLAR NUMBERS TODAY

NOAA reported that solar activity was low during the 24 hour period

ending yesterday at 5 p.m. local. There are 4 numbered sunspot regions

on the Sun facing Earth this morning. There were 7 last Monday. The

Prediction Center expects solar activity to be very low with chance for

C-class flares today through Wednesday.

At noon yesterday, the observed Solar Flux Index (SFI) at Penticton was

  1. Last Sunday it was 161. The index is predicted to measure 120 at

noon today, 115 Tuesday and Wednesday. The SFI 90 day trailing average

was 127 yesterday, down 3 from last Sunday.

The Earth’s geomagnetic field reached active levels yesterday. It is

expected to be quiet to unsettled today then be quiet Tuesday and

Wednesday. The estimated Kp-index of 1 reported at 5 a.m. local this

morning indicated quiet geomagnetic conditions.

We can expect fair to good operating conditions on the HF bands 80

through 20, fair on 17 and 15, and poor on 12 and 10 meters.

For Sale-Updated: Yaesu FT-2000 HF + 6 meters transceiver, 100 watt

version.  The frequency display was replaced within the last year.  The

rig comes with a Yaesu MH-31 hand mic and an external Yaesu SP8 speaker,

now with fully functional high and low audio frequency filters.  The

speaker is for transceiver audio only, i.e., the phone patch circuitry

is not connected.  I am also including an RF Space SDR IQ pan display

unit, installed and working.  The transceiver itself is fully functional

and in excellent condition.  Email me for pictures.  I am lowering the

price to $700 cash for local pickup. This equipment is from my personal

collection, and the proceeds will be used to offset the cost of a new

Yaesu System Fusion WIRES-X simplex node and room located at my QTH.

This system will be the first access point for world wide full C4FM
